'Lemonade kid' raises money for camp
Life gave Arian Nakhjavan lemons and he opened a lemonade stand. The 7-year-old "Lemonade Kid" has been working at his lemonade stand since the beginning of summer. He has been raising money to benefit Camp iCare, a summer camp for kids, ages 6 to 12, designed to teach young campers about financial responsibility and how philanthropy is part of that responsibility.

Candidates line up for municipal elections When Auburn voters go to the polls for municipal elections Aug. 24, those in all wards will have the opportunity to vote for mayor. Only those in two wards, however, will see a ballot listing city council choices.

Lundy Chase addition first to utilize new zoning Back in 2007, the Auburn City Council adopted a regulation creating a new residential zoning category called "conservation subdivision," aimed at reducing the impact of development. Now, for the first time, a developer is seeking permission to build under the requirements for the new designation.

Former AU star-turned-coach helps wins NBA title Last month, NBA fans all over the world watched intently as the Los Angeles Lakers rallied for a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback and edged the Boston Celtics 83-79 in Game 7 of the finals. The Staples Center in downtown LA erupted in celebration as the Lakers earned their second consecutive championship. Superstars like Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher and Ron Artest hugged each other and other teammates as they rejoiced the exhilarating victory. A closer look at all of the faces enjoying the post-game festivities revealed an Auburn connection.

AU's board could see influx of new blood Two Auburn University trustees are already in the pipeline awaiting confirmation by the Alabama Senate, and the terms of seven additional trustees are set to expire in early 2011. In addition, Gov. Bob Riley holds a position on Auburn University's governing board by virtue of his position, and he won't be returning.

Duggan wants only 'problems of prosperity' The recent Auburn Citizen's Survey revealed that nine out of 10 people (92 percent) are satisfied with city services. With that evidence, it is safe to say that the maintenance of quality of life is in good hands--the hands of city employees.

Blackmon offers aspiring golfers opportunity
For the last 10 years, Will Blackmon has been teaching young golfers in the Auburn and Opelika area the fundamentals of the sport. Most local golfers who have gone on to play at the college level in that time have crossed paths with the golf instructor.

Auburn gets a new performing arts center Auburn has a new performing arts center. A $10 million addition and renovation project at Auburn High School, called the Auburn Performing Arts Center, Julie and Hal Moore Center for Excellence, is expected to open this weekend after almost a year of construction.
